Headquartered in Orangeburg, SC, this family-owned and operated company produces a variety of quality wood products—from decks, fences and framing to utility poles, docks, retaining walls and other specialty items. Included on the SC list of the 100 largest privately held companies (#20) for 2014, Cox operates 15 manufacturing facilities and dozens of distribution yards and employs more than 400 people. Cox brand-name products are distributed via select building supply dealers, specialty distributors, and utility companies throughout the eastern United States and overseas. Cox was recently named SC Manufacturer of the Year for 2011 and received the Silver Crescent Award for Manufacturing Excellence. In 2012 and 2015 Cox Industries was recognized by the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) for their Excellence in Corporate Responsibility Award.  This award recognizes excellence in categories of Community Involvement & Philanthropy, Wellness & Safety and Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability. Cox was also recognized by the United States Small Business Administration as South Carolina’s Family Owned Business of the Year.

Cox Industries has long been concerned about our impact on our communities and the environment and that concern has been seen not only in product and service innovations but in our relentless research into safer and more efficient ways to produce our products. Involvement with Green Globes, Green Guard and EPA WasteWise programs, products receiving the Good House Keeping Seal and Energy Star Ratings and our six decade long commitment to purchase wood from well managed Pine Plantations (recently documented by SFI and FSC certifications) are just the surface of our sustainability initiative.

Cox was founded by W.B. and E.J. Cox as a residential product treating company. Famous for pioneering “Kiln Drying After Treatment” (KDAT), today the company serves 10,000s of customers around the world, with residential, industrial and custom product manufacturing. The company is in its third generation of family ownership.
